TRUSTING GOD — WHEN YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT’S NEXT:
Life has a way of putting us in places where we don’t understand what God is doing. Uncertainty, fear, bad news, and unanswered questions can make the road ahead feel unclear. But Scripture reminds us again and again that while we may not know what’s coming next, God always does.

Life has a way of putting us in places where we don’t understand what God is doing. Uncertainty, fear, bad news, and unanswered questions can make the road ahead feel unclear. But Scripture reminds us again and again that while we may not know what’s coming next, God always does.
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding… and He will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5–6). Your situation may be beyond your understanding, but it is never beyond God’s. He knows the how, the when, and the why—even when you don’t.
God has not changed. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). His power hasn’t weakened. His promises haven’t expired. The same God who carried His people through wilderness seasons, battles, exile, persecution, and loss is the same God walking with you right now.
Because of who He is, you don’t have to live in fear of bad news. Scripture says the one who trusts the Lord has a firm heart, not controlled by circumstances (Psalm 112:7). God is never anxious about tomorrow. He is already there.
When fear tries to take over, God reminds us: “Be strong and courageous… for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9). He doesn’t ask you to be brave on your own. Courage flows from knowing you are not alone.
Commit your way to the Lord. Trust Him. He will act (Psalm 37:5). God is faithful to His word. He cannot lie. He has never failed—not in Scripture, not in history, and not in your life, even when it felt that way for a moment.
Jesus calls Himself the Good Shepherd. He knows His sheep, and His sheep know His voice (John 10:14). He leads. He protects. He provides. Even when the path isn’t easy, it is always guided by His hand.
God is working for your good—not just the pleasant things, but even the painful ones (Romans 8:28). Nothing is wasted in His hands. He restores what is broken. He shapes His people through every season.
If you are worried about provision, Jesus reminds us to look at the birds of the air. God feeds them—and you are far more valuable than they are (Matthew 6:26). Worry cannot add a single hour to your life, but trust places your life securely in His care.
God is your refuge. A safe place. A shelter in chaos (Psalm 62:8). You can pour out your heart to Him honestly—fear, confusion, sorrow, and hope—because He is strong enough to hold it all.
When your heart is troubled, Jesus says, “Believe in God; believe also in Me” (John 14:1). He has never broken a promise. He proved His trustworthiness at the cross, where He paid for your sins and secured your eternal life.
When you pray according to His will, He hears you (1 John 5:14). Your confidence isn’t in yourself—it’s in Him.
Do not trust in things, people, power, or appearances of security. Trust in the name of the Lord (Psalm 20:7). People will fail you. God never will.
When fear rises, do what David did: “When I am afraid, I put my trust in You” (Psalm 56:3). God knows you’re human. He invites you to come anyway.
Trusting God brings blessing (Jeremiah 17:7). Not always ease—but peace, strength, and hope that cannot be shaken.
And no matter what this world throws at you, God will bring you safely into His heavenly kingdom (2 Timothy 4:18).
Life is full of the unexpected—both good and bad. But God is trustworthy in every situation. His Word is His guide for your life. Return to it. Rest in it. Trust Him.
God knows what will happen next. And He’s already there.
