The Corinthians were proud of how wise, talented, and tolerant they were. But if the people in a church are caught up in small fights, cliques, and ugly disputes, they are not mature. This is true no matter how wise, gifted, or tolerant the church is. Their meetings are not a place where Christ is known and shown. Instead, they are just a bunch of "mere humans" getting together. Christ changes us so that we can be more.
Prayers: Holy and Righteous Father, when I am jealous, argumentative, cliquish, or petty, gently humble me and call me to repentance. I know that You love me and think of me as Your child, so I ask the Holy Spirit to help me be the person You made me to be. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
