God gives this promise to a people who are going through hard times. These hard times were brought on by God to get them to change their ways. Their land is empty and small because of drought, disease, and bad crops. God, on the other hand, says that He will bless them if they turn back to Him with all their hearts. The LORD, the God of Israel's covenant, will do great things to save His people if they turn back to Him and use His gracious power. The country can be happy and rejoice. His people should, too. Also, we should! We know that "the LORD has done great things" for us because of Jesus.
Prayer: Dear God in heaven, Thank you for all the great things you do in our world. Thank you for all the great work you've done in my little corner of the world. Thank you for saving me through Jesus. Thank you for putting an end to death. Thank you for the immense grace and mercy you have shown. Thank you for sending the Holy Spirit to us. Thank you for the Bible, which was written by your Spirit and teaches us. Thank you for the Church, family, and friends. Thank you. In Jesus' precious name I pray. Amen.
