Please note that for May, we will be adjusting our regular schedule. Instead of meeting on the second and fourth Sundays, we will meet on the first and third Sundays to accommodate everyone for Mother's Day and Memorial Day.
During this session, we will discuss the Book of 2 Chronicles. This book chronicles the history of the Southern Kingdom of Judah, from Solomon's reign to the conclusion of the Babylonian exile. While Judah's decline is disappointing, the focus is on the spiritual reformers who diligently work to lead the people back to God.
The book emphasizes goodness and offers little commentary on the failures of either evil or good kings. Because 2 Chronicles takes a priestly perspective, it rarely mentions the Northern Kingdom of Israel, which is associated with false worship and a refusal to acknowledge the Temple in Jerusalem. The book concludes with the final destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple.
